Taxing Authorities
Listed below are the Taxing Authorities in Lake County. These authorities set the millage rates, commonly known as tax rates, within their jurisdictional boundaries. Millage rates are multiplied against the taxable value of property to establish a tax dollar amount owed by a property owner.
The Property Appraiser is not a Taxing Authority
The Property Appraiser does not set millage rates (tax rates).
Millage rates (tax rates) are set during the budgeting process of each authority. For most authorities, the first and final budget hearings are held in the month of September. Details regarding dates and times are located on the Proposed Property Tax Notice (TRIM notice) mailed annually to each property owner in August.
